ASPECTS OF HOW WE GIVE
Demographic Influences of Giving and What is Given
The Individual Donor Profile(IDP) consists of the socio-economic factors compelling giving, including religious, political, income, educational background, as well as, other contributing aspects with parental influence as the number one determinant for individual giving. Those that give offer time, money, social advocacy or marketing efforts.
Who Receives When They Give?
Individual donation typically goes to a personal top five list of organizations. While 80% of monetary funding goes to the top 13% of the organizations, a crowding in effect occurs that bulldozes over small organizations. In fact, all size organizations grew with exception to the smallest organizations.
How Often and to What Degree?
For over forty years, 2% of US GDP accounted for giving and in 2015, $290B dollars sourced from the IDP. With guilt and pity fueling some daily giving, traditional seasonal motivators reminded us to give weekly, monthly, quarterly, during the yearly holidays, as well as, Tax Season. Some nonprofits utilized 5kâs, Galas, Auctions, and Graduations as opportunities to give as well.
